Abstract
O ensaio examina a relação de Octavio Paz com a Modernidade através da sua concepção de poesia e de tempo. Demonstra, assim, seu ambíguo pertencimento à época moderna e à tradição romântica. E aproveita para pensar, a partir dessas coordenadas, o Modernismo brasileiro. Por último, chama atenção para o estilo ensaístico de Paz.
